Ms. Nidhi Khattri from the Independent Evaluation Group Visits AFDC
The Senior Evaluation Officer Ms. Nidhi Khattri from the Independent Evaluation Group, the World Bank visited AFDC from June 9-10 and had a meeting with the Deputy Director-General of AFDC, Dr. Li Kouqing, discussing AFDC-IEG partnership on capacity building of performance evaluation.
Shanghai International Program for Development Evaluation Training (SHIPDET) was launched by the Ministry of Finance, PRC, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and AFDC in 2007. In order to support the sustainable development of the program, a three-year Memorandum of Understanding was signed between AFDC and IEG. During the three years, SHIPDET trained a great number of government officials and project managers in China and other Asian developing countries. Its reputation was gradually built up and become recognized. With the conclusion of this SHIPDET October Program, the MOU will also reach to an end. As a result, Ms. Nidhi and Dr. Li exchanged ideas on how to continue the joint efforts on capacity building of development evaluation beyond SHIPDET.
In addition, Ms. Nidhi also introduced IEG’s another endeavor to promote capacity building in development evaluation in the world—the regional center program. Ms. Nidhi elaborated on the program context, goals and sources of funding. The regional center program is likely to be another partnership in the areas of development evaluation.
