AFDC Holds 2nd Distance Learning Seminar on Macro-economic Situation: Regional Economic Coordination and Cooperation
On the morning of May 20, the second distance learning seminar on macro-economic situation was held by AFDC in conjunction with China Development Distance Learning Network (CDDLN). The theme of this seminar was Regional Economic Coordination of China’s West Development Endeavor: the Experience of the Yangtze River Delta. The seminar was chaired by Dr. Ji Rui in Shanghai, connecting 120 participants gathered at six distance learning sites in Beijing, Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Ningxia, and Tibet.
The speaker of this seminar was Mr. Yu Hongsheng, member of the Yangtze River Delta Regional Planning Team of the National Development Reform Commission. In the two-hour speech, he touched upon a series of key issues including regional economic cooperation model, development highlights, strategic positioning, and regional planning of the Yangtze River Delta, as well as institutional reform and innovation needed to spur regional integration.
In the Q&A session following that, inspired by Mr. Yu’s presentation, participants raised lots of questions regarding infrastructure financing, the strategic position of Jiangsu province, Yunnan province, and the city of Xuzhou and Yiwu, and how to deal with the conflict of interest in coordinating regional development to further discuss with him.
