Thanks letter from CLEAR Secretariat

Dear Dr. Li, Dr. Peng, and Dr. Zhaomin:

On behalf of the CLEAR Secretariat and the World Bank team, I would like to thank you and the AFDC/SNAI team for your exceptional partnership during the course offered in the last two weeks, "How to Design, Manage, and Conduct Impact Evaluation". We are very pleased with the implementation and results of this course. Through this partnership, approximately 50 participants have been trained in this increasingly important approach to evaluation. Our team interacted with many of the participants who commented on how the course exposed them to advanced topics and that they would have had difficulty otherwise locating and receiving such training.

Additionally, our team was impressed by the range of participants who came from across Asia and beyond - China, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Pacific Island countries, Australia, Venezuela, Sweden, South Africa, and others - and that AFDC/SNAI was so easily able to welcome this diverse group of participants. They formed professional relationships and even personal friendships over this period and many will likely interact periodically in the larger global M&E community. You might be interested in knowing that many participants commented on how impressed they were with the professionalism of the AFDC/SNAI staff, the seamless

coordination, the excellent facilities, and finally the warm hospitality. We would agree.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your continued dedication to this partnership to further the growth of monitoring and evaluation in Asia. Your initial co-development of the SHIPDET program almost five years ago, and new ventures such as this recent impact evaluation course, serves to embed and develop the professionalization of the field of evaluation not just in China, but across other Asian countries and beyond.

As always, we thank you and your dedicated team - with a special note of thanks to course coordinator Annie Wu - for another successful endeavor.

Best regards

Nidhi
