The Special Topic Course of 2012 SHIPDET held from December 4-December 7, 2012

The results-based management at the public sector has been given more and more attention among the international community in the recent years in the hope to improve the decision making and resources allocating capacities of the government at all levels. In order to help the Asian developing countries to establish the result-based planning and budgeting system, the special topic course of the 2012 Shanghai International Program for Development Evaluation Training was held from December 4th—December 7th at the SNAI.

About 40 participants from Kyrgyz, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Lao, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Nepal attended this four-day course.



The special topic course, followed by the core course focuses on impact evaluation and performance budgeting. It is aimed at the senior-level government officials working in the department of finance, budgeting and planning. The associate professor from the University of Witwatersrand, Mr. Neil Rankin as well as Dr. Chen qihui from the University of Minnesota are the core instructors introduce the concept and different approaches to conduct impact evaluation while Mr. Marc Robinson, formerly working in IMF and now a senior consultant for PFM results consulting gives lectures on performance budgeting, budgeting reform, program budgeting and so on.
